Mowing in the North

The 1st Cumbria Scythe Festival

Cylinders Estate, Elterwater, South Lakeland

Saturday 17th – Sunday 18th July 2010

Scythe Workshops* Sat. 17 July (10am – 4.00pm)

Scything workshops for beginners and skilled; use and care of a scythe,

peening, sharpening, etc., and scything difficult upland meadows and orchards.

Workshop tutors: Christiane Lechner, Paul Kingsnorth and Steve Tomlin.

Scything Festival – Anyone can do it! Sun. 18 July  (2pm – 5pm)

Family open day and displays; learn basic scything skills; scythe clinic

- bring along your old scythes for sharpening; hay rope making, etc.

Childrens art workshops, refreshments, country crafts displays.

ACCESS & PARKING NB Entrance to the Festival fields is available only via the

Elterwater – Chapelstile top road.  Parking at the Elterwater Common public car park.

Free entry

*(Saturday Workshop registration fee: £15)
